How To Get Hair Out Of Drain

Cleaning hair from the drain is not a difficult task. The first step is to try to remove the hair with your fingers. If this fails, then use a snake or auger to dislodge the hair.

Clean The Hair Out Of Your Drain With A Vacuum

If you have a lot of hair in your drains and it’s not possible to clean it out with a pair of pliers, use a vacuum cleaner.

Use the hose attachment on your vacuum’s wand and place the end into your drain. Turn on the vacuum for about 10 seconds to pull out any hair that is stuck down there. If there is still hair left after this first attempt, then try again until all of the hair has been removed.

Clean Your Drains Using A Plunger

The plunger is a very simple and effective way to unclog your drain.

Step 1 – Prepare The Plunger

First, make sure the plunger is clean. If it has been used before on other clogs or if you have had it for awhile, you may want to give it a good cleaning with soap and water before using it again. You can also soak the rubber part in hot water for a few minutes before using it. This will help soften up any debris that might be inside of the rubber cup and make it easier to push down into the drain.

Step 2 – Push Down On The Plunger

Push down on the plunger while holding onto its handle so that it fits into your garbage disposal drain hole. Make sure that you push down hard enough so that the rubber cup covers most of the opening in your sink drain hole. Keep pushing down until you hear a whooshing sound as air passes through the open spaces between the cup and sink drain hole, indicating that all of the water has drained out of your garbage disposal drain pipe. Hold onto your plunger until all of the water has drained out.

Cleaning the Drain

Before you start trying to remove hair from your drain, you should clean it out first. This will help make sure that your drain isn’t blocked by any dirt or other debris that might prevent you from getting rid of the hair. Start by putting down some newspaper or paper towels on the floor around where you are going to be working so that any water spilled will land on them instead of the floor.

Then turn off all the water sources in that area — including sinks, faucets and toilets — then use a screwdriver or pliers to open up your drain cover and remove it from its place over the hole in your floor or wall. Then take your cleaning supplies (soap, water) and scrub away at any buildup inside your drain until all of it has been dislodged and removed into your toilet bowl or bucket below.

Once this has been done, close up your drain cover again and turn on all of those water sources again so that they can

  1. Remove as much of the hair as possible with a pair of tweezers before plunging or pouring any chemicals down your drain. This will help ensure that nothing gets stuck in the pipe behind the clog.
  2. Boiling water is a good way to loosen up clogs and dissolve hair and other debris. Use a pot large enough to completely submerge the drain plug, then fill with boiling water until it reaches just below where you want it to stay — about halfway up the side of the pot should do it (make sure there’s room for expansion).
  3. 3)      Let it boil for five minutes, then turn off the heat and let cool for about two hours. During this time you should be able to unscrew and remove your drain plug easily once cooled down enough to handle safely without burning yourself. If not, try again later when cooler/more cooperative! It may take one or several attempts.

Use Your Hands:

The best way to clean out the drain is by using your hands. Reach into the drain opening and remove as much of the clog as possible. If there are multiple strands of hair, work them apart so that they can be removed individually. This will prevent further clogging in the future.

Use A Snake:

If you still cannot get all of the clog out of your drains, then you may need to use an auger or snake. A snake is a long metal tool that has hooks on one end and a rope on the other end so that it can be pulled back through the pipes without damaging them. Use this tool by following these steps:

  1. Locate where your main water line enters into your home.
  2. It will usually be in an area that does not have any fixtures connected to it (such as behind walls or under a sink).
  3. Look for an orange colored pipe coming out of this area and follow it until you find where it connects back into another pipe system inside your home.
