Is Castor Oil Good for Wrinkles?
Is castor oil good for wrinkles? Does castor oil get rid of wrinkles under eyes and face wrinkles? Well, castor oil is not only a good and easy wrinkle reduction remedy, but also one of the earliest wrinkle treatments with its use transcending back to numerous centuries.
According to the book, “For Appearance’ Sake: The Historical Encyclopedia of Good Looks, Beauty, and Grooming”, Egyptian pharaohs used skin creams prepared with castor oil to treat wrinkles and it has not lost its ember up to today, as can be seen from its popularity in commercial skin care creams.
You can also use pure castor oil for wrinkles treatment but we will come back to that in just a moment. As for where to buy castor oil, check with your local drugstore (pharmacy), but if you like, online retail sites such as Amazon are an equally good alternative.
Castor Oil for Face Wrinkles and Forehead Lines
If you have noted the abundance of beauty websites recommending the use of castor oil for face wrinkles and those fine forehead lines, it is because it works. Castor oil penetrates deep into the facial skin where it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, the two vital components of the skin responsible for skin tautness and elasticity. Castor oil also helps to keep the skin hydrated and plump which is also important for reducing the appearance of face wrinkles and fine lines under eyes and forehead wrinkles.
Castor oil is liked for its emollient properties, ability to absorb into the skin fast, and low cost compared to other treatment options. This is not to mention that castor oil is a natural ingredient which auger well with the needs of health-conscious users who are concerned about the potentially harmful ingredients in some of the commercial anti-aging products.
You may want to use castor oil as your night-time facial moisturizer. This will not only help to reduce the appearance of those pesky facial wrinkles and forehead fine lines, but also improve any dark circles under your eyes. According to My Yoga Online, castor oil has mild antibacterial properties that may be beneficial to minor acne breakouts.
We have explained how to use castor oil for wrinkles reduction and removal in another section.
Castor Oil for Wrinkles under Eyes
Can you use castor oil for wrinkles under eyes? Is castor oil good for under eye wrinkles? It is definitely difficult to tell unless you see some results from someone who has already used the oil on their skin to prevent aging signs. Generally, the reviews of using it to get rid of eye wrinkles, or wrinkles under eyes are quite good.
The skin around the eyes is notably thin and susceptible to irritation and damage by external factors such as sun, pollution, smoke (from cigarettes for example) etc. It therefore comes as a no surprise that wrinkles tend to appear there earlier.
Castor oil is totally safe to use for eye wrinkles just like olive oil and emu oil are used for skin care. What’s more, it doesn’t interfere with your normal makeup regimen. Once castor oil ha been allowed time to dry (20 minutes is usually more than enough for most people), you can apply your makeup and sunscreen as you normally do without any problem.
The castor oil will work beneath your makeup to keep your skin moisturized and protected from the harmful effects of free radicals. According to a study done by the University of Lagos and published in the “European Journal of Scientific Research,” applying castor oil on the skin is a kind of a “preventive therapy for skin oxidative stress.”
How to Use Castor Oil for Wrinkles
As with all home remedies and treatment, correct use of castor oil is the key to ensuring maximum effectiveness and getting rid of wrinkles fast. On that note, here is how to use castor oil for wrinkles treatment:
- Cleanse your skin: Start by washing your face (or any other part necessary for that matter) with a facial cleanser or any other gentle cleanser and cold water. Finish by patting your skin dry with a clean towel.
- Remove traces of cleanser: Next, you will want to use a cotton ball or cosmetic sponge soaked in toner to remove any residues of the cleanser left behind on your skin from washing. If you don’t have a toner, witch hazel can as well do the job and so can rose water.
- Apply castor oil gently: Once the toner has dried, pour a little castor oil into your palms, rub, and then apply it gently all over your face, paying close attention to the area around your eyes. Work from the outer edge of your eyes working towards the inner area next to your nose.
- Repeat 1-2 times everyday. Some skin care experts suggest applying the castor oil before bedtime for maximum benefits.

We did exactly that concentrating on user reviews on Makeup Alley and Amazon and we at the end had a hard time choosing between these two products that are top rated to remove wrinkles fast:
Now solutions Castor Oil: This product has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 on Now Food’s store on Amazon, based on 565 reviews (as at the time of this writing).
Although largely marketed for overall skin moisturizing and care, rather than wrinkle reduction, we found one reviewer who had something to say about its positive outcome for wrinkles:
“…if you put a couple of dabs around the eyes and massage them on your wrinkles before bed and very little before you go out, you will see the effects almost immediately…”
This reviewer went as far as calling this product “a miracle worker”.

“…it doesn’t go in your eyes as it can be a bit gloopy [sic]… also good for fine lines on your face…”
There is however one customer who wasn’t happy with Brows Castor Oil and had this to say,
“I tried castor oil and it broke me out. Now I use almond oil and I’m not sure it’s growing anything, but it is leaving my eyes soft and wrinkle free”. [Makeup Alley reviews.]
