The exact age of the chart -like many things in the Chinese community remains a mystery, but it is believed to have been found about 700 years ago in a tomb somewhere in what was then the Chinese empire during the reign of the Qing (pronounced ‘ching’) dynasty.
True to the Chinese appetite for stratagem, it was revealed to the world in 1975 during their cultural revolution. Even today, many people all over the world use it to predict the gender of their unborn babies. There are many who attest to its accuracy. Unfortunately, no studies can ascertain this claim. Many use it for fun. It is available on display at the Beijing Institute of Science.
Whatever your attitude towards the Chinese chart is, you have to admit that if anyone is an expert on the delicate intricacies of procreation it is probably the Chinese. After all, they make a significant portion of the human population. However, a little caution is healthy and I cannot claim with all certainty that it works. That will be up to you to decide.

How the Chinese conception chart for twins works makes a very interesting read. First, to use it you must know that the Chinese Lunar calendar is what is used instead of the usual Gregorian calendar. Therefore, you have to convert the number of years into the Chinese system. It is a Chinese conception calendar after all.
One year is added to the age you could be having right now. For example, if you are 23 years old right according to Chinese calendar, you are at least 24 or possibly 25. This is because the Chinese count the nine months spent in the womb towards the baby’s age, unlike in the West. However, the Chinese conception chart for twins struggles to explain other situations such as the occurrence of mixed gender twins and other multiple conceptions. Although the statistics vary by ethnicity and location, around 1 percent of births are multiple births. The Chinese pregnancy calendar does not provide a method to predict mixed gender or multiple conceptions in these cases. You could nevertheless take a leap of faith it does not hurt. The blessing of a newborn outweighs any outcome.

Poor mobility means the sperm is a poor swimmer and will not get a chance to fertilize an egg.
Though only theoretical, it is believed that if intercourse takes place closer to ovulation, then the probability is greater that the child will be male, due to the high forward progression and the decreased life span of the sperm. The sperm with the female chromosome have a longer life span than the male sperm, but exhibit decreased mobility. Therefore, intercourse that takes place before ovulation increases the probability of conception of a girl.
When it comes to conception, the age of the woman also matters. Therefore, the Chinese were not only right in discovering that the timing and age affects the gender of the unborn. In fact, there are certain modern clinics that claim to have perfected the Chinese art of conception with very high accuracy.
