  • Use a pumice stone to rub the area where there is a callus. This will help to alleviate the symptoms. This should be done after one has soaked their feet in warm water for some time.
  • Using baking soda can also help to get rid of calluses. Add a few tablespoons of baking soda in a basin with warm water. Soak your feet in this to get rid of the calluses.
  • Vinegar is also helpful in treatment of calluses. Rub some onto the callus with the help of a cotton ball. Leave it to rest over the night and use a pumice stone to exfoliate the area.
  • Pine apple peels contain enzymes that help to soften the calluses and get them off the skin. Place a fresh piece of pineapple peeling over the callus and tape it around or tie a piece of cloth around it. Pineapple juice could also be used in place of the peel. Repeat this every night until the callus is gone.

Though these home remedies work, there has not been enough scientific evidence to show how or why. In case a method does not seem to work on you, try another one until you get one that will.

  • Before going to bed, soak your feet in a mixture made up of equal parts of warm water and milk for five minutes. Milk contains lactic acid which assists in getting rid of dead skin. Rinse the feet using warm water and scrub off calluses on heels using a pumice stone. Rinse a final time once done, dry your feet and apply generous amounts of a moisturizer. Perform this ritual every evening before going to bed and sleep in comfortable cotton socks until the calluses are no longer on your heels.
  • Warm some water and add iodine, bran and borax. Soak your feet in this mixture for 20 minutes. Rub off skin with a towel. Borax is acidic and will help to in exfoliating dead skin cells. Iodine helps to prevent any form of reaction.
  • Use cocoa butter to soften up the callus for ease of removal. It will hydrate the skin thus enhancing removal of the dead skin using a pumice stone.
  • A sugar scrub can also be used to get rid of calluses. This can be bought from the stores or one can opt for the cheaper option of making some themselves. Make a sugar scrub paste by mixing three parts of sugar with one part of mineral oil. Use this on the heels after a bath by gently massaging it on the affected area.

The use of hand tools, musical instruments or even some games such as tennis and badminton are some of the things that could lead one to having calloused hands.   • Each evening, soak the callused hands in warm water for at least five minutes. Avoid soaking for too long to avoid over-drying in the long end. Soak calloused and cracked hands in warm water for five minutes each evening. Do not soak longer, as it can lead to further drying.
  • Pat the skin dry and apply some petroleum jelly.  To enhance penetration, put a damp warm piece of cloth on the hands. Let it rest for 30 minutes. Alternatively, warm some olive oil and apply some generous amounts on the hands. Put on cotton gloves and leave them on overnight.
  • To help get rid of the calluses further, get a manicure done on your hands. This will soothe the hands as well as help get rid of dead skin cells.

Calluses on toes are quite common especially when the choice of shoe has a toe box that squeezes them together. One can use home remedies for calluses on toes to alleviate the symptoms.
