CBD products have been growing in popularity. A new study estimates that by 2022, the hemp-CBD market will hit $22 billion. CBD has been linked to healing a plethora of ailments from pain relief to fighting cancer.

Keep reading to learn about more about CBD health benefits.

1. CBD Products for Pain Relief & Anti-Inflammatory

When you’re experiencing pain or inflammation, you probably grab an over the counter drug. When actually you could be healing stiffness and discomfort the natural way, with CBD products like water soluble cbd, or a cbd oil roll on.

According to the Journal of Experimental Medicine, it was found the CBD dramatically relieved chronic pain in inflammation on some mice and rats.

This study suggests that the non-psychoactive compounds from marijuana AKA CBD could be an alternative treatment for chronic pain.

2. Quitting Smoking & Drug Withdrawals

There have been some promising results that CBD might help people quit smoking. There was a 2013 pilot study in Addictive Behaviors that saw when smokers inhaled CBD, they smoked less, and their nicotine craving was reduced.

In another review published in Neurotherapeutics, it was discovered that CBD may be able to help people with opioid addictions. It was also found that CBD could reduce symptoms connected with substance abuse like mood swings, insomnia, pain, and anxiety.

There is more research needed to fully support this claim, but so far it sounds promising that CBD can help reduce withdrawal symptoms.

3. Epilepsy

After testing the effectiveness and safety of CBD oil, the FDA recently approved the use of CBD for two rare conditions of epileptic seizures in 2018.

These conditions are Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which happens between the ages of 3 and 5 years and is characterized by seizures. The other is Dravet syndrome (DS), which is a rare genetic case that happens during the first year of life and is characterized by fever-related seizures that are frequent.

Both of these types of seizures are hard to control with other medication, but CBD seems to help.

4. Helps Digestion

There are a lot of illnesses that lead to a suppressed appetite, which prevents the body from getting the nutrients it needs. When this happens, it’s needed to take supplements to help stimulate the appetite. CBD oil is a great natural alternative to these supplements. Click here to learn more.

CBD can regulate the appetite, even if the person is suffering from a serious illness. CBD helps reduce vomiting and nausea, which helps with eating and digestion.

5. Fights Cancer

There has been some research that found CBD might even fight cancer. In a study in a British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology study, it was discovered that CBD helped prevent the spread of cancer significantly. It was also found that CBD can slow down the growth of cancer cells, which helps these cells get destructed.

CBD has low levels of toxicity, unlike other cancer treatments that are high in chemicals. However, there still needs to be more research to find out if you need to take CBD with your regular cancer treatment, or if it can work on its own.

6. Helps with Anxiety

It’s common for doctors to suggest you avoid marijuana if you are suffering from chronic anxiety since THC can trigger paranoia and anxiousness. However, there was a review in Neurotherapeutics that discovered CBD might reduce certain kinds of anxiety.

In this review, it was found that CBD can reduce anxiety for people suffering from social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, and general anxiety.

The current treatments for anxiety can lead to more symptoms and side effects, which may make the patient stop using this medication. There is no evidence that shows CBD has any side effects, but this could be because there aren’t enough studies on this.

7. Alleviates Type 1 Diabetes

Type one diabetes can cause inflammation in the immune system as it attacks pancreas cells. There was a 2016 study in Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation that determined CBD might ease type 1 diabetes-related inflammation.

There was also a paper that was presented in the same year in Lisbon, Portugal, about how CBD can reduce inflammation and even delay or protect against the development of type 1 diabetes.

8. Treats Acne

CBD can help reduce acne. Acne is caused by inflammation and overworked sebaceous glands in the body. CBD helps reduce inflammation, which makes it a great acne treatment.

There was a 2014 study in the Journal of Clinical Investigation that found CBD can help lower the development of sebum which can cause acne. This is because partly because of CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Sebum is like an oily substance, and when there is too much of it on the skin, it can cause acne. We might see that CBD will be a new treatment for acne vulgaris, which is the most common kind of acne.

9. Alzheimer’s Disease

There was research in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease which found CBD can prevent the development of Alzheimer’s. If someone is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, CBD can help suffers continue to recognize the faces of the people that they know.

10. Could Benefit the Heart

There is recent research that saw a link to CBD and several benefits to the circulatory system and the heart, such as lowering high blood pressure. High blood pressure can make someone be in higher risks of health issues like heart attacks, stroke, and metabolic syndrome.

Studies show that CBD might be an effective natural treatment for high blood pressure. Another recent study treated 10 healthy men with 600mg of CBD oil and found it lowered their resting blood pressure, compared to those who took a placebo.

In this same study, men were given stress tests that normally increase someone’s blood pressure. From just one dose of CBD, subjects had a lower blood pressure increase compared to those without CBD.

CBD might help the heart because of its anxiety and stress-reducing ability, which in turn, can lower blood pressure.

11. Fights Multi-Drug Resistant Bacteria

Researches found that cannabinoids which include CBD can destroy even drug-resistant strands of bacteria. However, there is more research needed to find out exactly how and why this works.

There was a 2011 study that saw CBD can slow down the growth of tuberculosis in rats. It was concluded that CBD does this by preventing T-cell proliferation, instead of having antibacterial properties.

However CBD destroys bacteria, it seems that CBD can even work against antibiotic-resistant superbugs, which are becoming more and more of an issue today.

12. Reduces Oxidative Stress

Oxidative stress causes a ton of today’s ailments. This kind of stress is caused when the body has too many free radicals that the body can not neutralize fast enough with antioxidants.

This stress is more of an issue now because of how toxic the environment has become. There was a 2010 study that saw CBD oil can act as an antioxidant, while another study saw that CBD had neuroprotective properties. Which means, CBD can lower neurological damage which is caused by free radicals.

13. Help Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia usually managed with therapy and pharmaceutical drugs that are heavy with side effects. A lot of people found that CBD oil can actually reduce hallucinations. There isn’t a ton of research on this, but it’s catching up.

There was a 2015 review that found CBD was effective, safe and a great treatment for psychosis. But there still needs more research to make CBD a clinical practice.

Keep in mind though that THC, which is the psychoactive compound of marijuana, can increase psychosis. CBD oil, which isn’t psychoactive can reduce psychosis and may even counteract psychosis from THC.

14. Promotes Healthy Weight

Cannabidiol can help keep healthy blood sugar, which stimulates proteins and genes that can break down fat, and promote mitochondria which burn calories. CBD also helps the body convert white fat to brown fat. White fat is what we think of when we think of body fat.

Brown fat is small deposits of fat that act differently than white fat. Brown fat can improve health as it enhances the body’s ability to create heat, burn white fat, and even regulate blood sugar.

15.  Improves Skin Conditions

CBD oil can be used to treat skin issues in addition to acne, such as eczema. CBD oil can encourage abnormal cell death and regulate the skin’s oil. CBD also has nutrients like vitamin E which improves and protects the skin.

16. Prevents Violence

CBD and THC slow you down, which helps you think better and stay calm. CBD can help your body from fight or flight, as it keeps your cortisol levels low, so you won’t immediately reflex or have a violent reaction.

17. Better Sleep

CBD oil is very helpful if you are suffering from insomnia or sleep disorders, or even if you have a hard time simply falling asleep. CBD can help you fall asleep faster as it relaxes the body and mind by unlocking pain modulation which regulates sleep cycles. Having a good sleep cycle can help you have a well-rested brain and active body.

18. Boost Immunity

If you have an autoimmune disease like lupus, multiple sclerosis, or arthritis, you might benefit from the anti-inflammatory properties of the CBD oil. If you regularly use this oil, you can have better control of your immune system which can protect you from viral infections.
